This has made fans speculate on the future releases in the franchise, some fans have got a LinkedIn post that says that the next entry in the franchise namely Assassin’s Creed Codename RED based in Japan, might be closer to us than we ever expected.

The Journey Till Now

Assassin’s Creed by Ubisoft has been one of the most popular and hyped game IPs in the industry. With the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins in 2017, the franchise tried the Open-world Action RPG path, followed by Assassin’s Creed Odessey (2018) and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020). This was a very polarizing step, some people loved the new take on the stealth action of the franchise, but at the same time, some said that Ubisoft is just going for huge cash grabs from RPGs and has left the roots of AC behind, which is unacceptable. Whether fans liked the RPG mechanics in AC games or not, everybody after 3 consecutive RPGs wanted a good stealthy and back-to-roots experience.

A Positive Step: Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Ubisoft considered the feedback and bought AC Mirage, a linear, semi-open-world adventure following the journey of Basim, we met in AC Valhalla. The game follows the journey of Basim from a thief to the master assassin in the brotherhood located in Baghdad. The game tried to keep a close connection with the earlier linear games in the franchise, ditching the RPG elements.

With all these changes to the formula, looks like it worked. Fans generally made a positive response, reviewers appreciated the efforts by developers in bringing old AC back. The game sold pretty well and everyone looked pretty invested in the world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red / Assassin’s Creed Japan: The Journey Ahead

The latest entry was a huge success, and with that, the expectations of the fans came to the future of the franchise. Fans are speculating the release dates of the next expected entry Assassin’s Creed Codename RED, which is going to be based in Japan. From a recent post on LinkedIn done by a Ubisoft staff, fans got the hint of the coming release of this Japanese entry to the franchise. The post is done by Arisa Lagunzad in Japanese, referring to AC Codename Red as “Biggest blockbuster for 2024”. Arisa works in brand management and business development at Ubisoft and has opened a call for creative partners and collaborators for the game.

Arisa writes-“We are seeking a sponsoring partner for this title Assassin’s Creed Codename RED for next year [sic]. Assassin’s Creed is really expanding the multi-media front, with podcasts and manga series. Do you want to partner with the biggest blockbuster for 2024? I’d like to hear from you.”

If Ubisoft is seeking collaborative partners for the upcoming entry, we all can expect a sequel next year for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, based in Japan for the first time. This time Ubisoft might also be planning additional content alongside games like anime and manga.
