Google Deepmind:  Revolutionizing The AI World

UK based company Deepmind was founded in 2010 by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg, and Mustafa Suleyman.

DeepMind was started to focus on teaching AI to play old video games like Breakout and Pong. Creating a general-purpose AI with learning and adapting capabilities was goal.  

In 2014, Google acquired DeepMind for a reported $400-$650 million. This provided DeepMind more resources and infrastructure to accelerate its R-&-D efforts.

In April 2023, DeepMind merged with Google AI's Google Brain division to form Google DeepMind. This aimed acceleration in AI R&D.

In 2016, AlphaGo defeated the world champion Go player Lee Sedol, marking a major milestone in AI development. 

In 2020, AlphaFold's breakthrough in predicting protein structures accelerates drug discovery, revolutionizing drug identification with unparalleled accuracy. 

In 2023, with collaboration with Google AI, DeepMind created Google Gemini AI model, with 3 tiers of intelligence.
